11th District Chancellors to take oath December 14 December 12, 2018 Chancellors Cynthia L. Brewer, Robert G. Clark III and James C. Walker will take the oath of office in a ceremony scheduled for Dec. 14 at 9:30 a.m. in Madison County Chancery Court in Canton. Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. will administer the oath of office. The chancellors will begin their new four-year terms on Jan. 1, 2019. They were reelected without opposition. Judge Brewer is senior judge of the 11th Chancery Court, having served as chancellor for 12 years. She previously served for four years as Madison County Court and Youth Court Judge. Before she was elected to the bench, she served as a special master in chancery court, and as a municipal, county and Youth Court prosecutor in Hinds County. She is Chair of the Board of Governors of the Mississippi Judicial College, and is an alternate member of the Commission on Judicial Performance. She previously served as chair and vice-chair of the Conference of Chancery Judges. She served on the Commission for Study of Domestic Abuse Proceedings. Judge Clark will begin his second term, having served since January 2015. He served for 10 years as Holmes County Youth Court referee, and nine years as municipal judge for the city of Lexington. He previously served as board attorney for the Holmes County Board of Supervisors, public defender in Holmes County Youth Court, and as attorney for the city of Tchula and the town of Cruger. Judge Walker has served as chancellor for three years. He was elected for the first time in November 2015 after the Mississippi Legislature created a third judgeship for the 11th Chancery. He took office for the first time in January 2016. He previously served as staff attorney, then family master for the 11th Chancery Court. The 11th Chancery is made up of Madison, Leake, Holmes and Yazoo counties. #### |
